Add Dataform Header Links To Template Documents

Deprecated Functionality

The following procedure describes functionality that has been deprecated from our cross-browser application.

To display a link to a template doc on the header of a dataform, perform the following steps:

Step-by-step guide

  1. Upload the template doc to the Template Doc Repository.
  2.  Add the document to the TOC of this workspace using Maintenance  | Table of Contents Maintenance.
  3. Go to any other workspace, it is recommended to experiment with a test workspace.
  4. Go to Maintenance  | Table of Contents Maintenance. for this second workspace and select Other Projects.
  5. Scroll down until you find the Template Doc Repository listed and double-click. This will show you a list of available items from this remote workspace that can be exposed on the TOC of the current workspace (Test).
  6. Select the item you want and drag it on to the TOC. You can place it anywhere as we are only using this as a way of getting the URL to the document.
  7. Once you've placed the new item on the TOC of the Test workspace, open the TOC item properties and you will see the URL that points to the document in the Template Doc Repository. The URL format should look similar to this: /workspaces/redirecttoc.aspx?pageid=763979
  8. Copy this URL and delete the TOC item from the test workspace.
  9. Go to System Admin  > Advanced > Custom Links.
  10. To add a new link, click Add.
The Configure Links Detail form opens.
  11. Use these parameters to complete the form:
    1. Location: Name of the dataform or system object on which you want the link to appear. Select Client Master (fill this with the Dataform you would like to display the link on).
    2. Group: The type of link you are creating. It drives the other fields in the dialog you will complete. Select Link 1 or Link 2.
    3. Display Action: Lists the possible actions for the selected Link Group. Select URL.
    4. URL: The copied URL that points to the doc in the Template Document Repository.
    5. You can set other values on this form, such as display conditions, or Security Entity that modify when the link is displayed. Improperly configured Display Conditions can have severe repercussions and may cause unexpected behavior in ClientSpace. If you have questions about how to configure link display, refer to this video on Conditional link display, or contact your account manager about scheduling a training session.

Security Warning

ClientSpace users can only use this link if they have access to the Template Doc Repository workspace.
