Task Type Filters By Category, Template And Workspace

Much as Client Service Case Types can be filtered by Category, you can also filter Task Types by Category and these Categories can be Template and even Workspace specific.



Step-by-step guide

To configure Task Type Filtering at the Template Level:

  1. Go to Admin Settings  | Template Maintenance | Active Templates

  2. Drill into the template in question and choose Task Manager from the Table of Contents menu
  3.  Once in Task Manager, access the Configuration Page from the link in the upper right
  4. Configuration Type (1) will default to Category - From this list (2) you can manage your Task Categories (specific to this template) or select a different Task Configuration Type.  By Default these configuration types include: Category, Priority, Type, Workflow
  5. Choose Type To Manage Case Types
  6. Type Configuration allows you to Add or Edit the Case Types associated with this Template. 
        1. Click Add to add a new Task Type or
        2. Edit one of the existing values by double clicking it in the list
  7. When Adding a New Task Type complete the following fields:
        1. Code (required) - The value stored in the database when this option is selected in a task
        2. Decode (required) - The value displayed in the Dropdown selection menu
        3. Display Order (required) - The order this item will appear in the Dropdown selection menu (defaults to 0)
        4. Category (optional) - The category associated with the task type (used for filtering)
        5. Save or Apply to save your changes
  8. Adding Categories, Types or other Configurations at the Template level will apply to all children of that Template.

 

To configure Task Type Filtering at the WorkspaceLevel:

  1. Go to the Workspace in question

  2. Choose Task Manager from the Table of Contents menu
     
  3.  Once in Task Manager, access the Configuration Page from the link in the upper right
  4. Configuration Type(1) will default to Category - From this list (2) you can manage your Task Categories (specific to this template) or select a different Task Configuration Type.  By Default these configuration types include: Category, Priority, Type, Workflow
  5. Choose Type To Manage Case Types
  6. Type Configuration allows you to Add or Edit the Case Types associated with this Workspace. 
        1. Click Add to add a new Task Type or
        2. Edit one of the existing Workspace level values by double clicking it in the list
  7. When Adding a New Task Type complete the following fields:
        1. Code (required) - The value stored in the database when this option is selected in a task
        2. Decode (required) - The value displayed in the Dropdown selection menu
        3. Display Order (required) - The order this item will appear in the Dropdown selection menu (defaults to 0)
        4. Category (optional) - The category associated with the task type (used for filtering)
        5. Save or Apply to save your changes
  8. Template Task Types are not editable at the workspace level and will appear Read-Only as in the above image.
  9. Adding Categories, Types or other Configurations at the Workspace level will apply to that Workspace.
